Hi families,
Our 3rd and 4th-grade students will finally get to show what they know on the Reading STAAR Exam this Wednesday, April 26.
While it can be a stressful time, it is also an exciting time. It is a time for our students to truly shine. These past few weeks have been jam-packed with STAAR review, goal setting, and celebrations all stemming from the hard work of our students. We are thankful for their commitment and hard work and know they will crush it!!
A few reminders about STAAR:
- The test will begin on Wednesday, April 26 at 7:45 AM. It is imperative that your child is at school by/before 7:30 am to ensure they have time to eat breakfast, prepare materials, and get settled in before the exam starts the time of 7:45.
- Please make sure students get a good night's rest. This test is lengthy and will take students the majority of the school day to complete it. If they are fighting fatigue or did not get a good night's rest, it will impact their performance. They should go to bed early the night before and eat a healthy, well-balanced dinner.
- Students should bring their laptops to school on Monday, April 24 with their chargers, headphones, and mouse. We will be keeping all 3rd-4th grade students' laptops at school until after the test on April 26 to avoid forgotten computers and to ensure everyone's laptop is fully charged for the test.
- Set goals with your child. Talk with them about the test and remind them that they are loved, capable, and strong. They got this!
Sending all my love,
Mrs. Ybarra
SPARK parents-
As we approach the end of the school year, we will begin to collect library books and blue bags. We are so close to closing out this school year! Please remember that school starts at 7:25 am and that you are considered tardy at 7:40
am. It is so important that our students are here on time every day so that they don't miss any important lesson or miss an important test. Also, let's finish this year off with the best attendance record in the district by coming to school every day! You got this Sparks!

Hi Families!
We are so proud of how hard students have been working on Imagine Learning and Study Island both at school and at home!
This week, we started our school-wide competition to see which classes and grade levels can be our top performers in both programs.
Pre-K through 2nd graders is working to have the highest usage on Imagine Learning. Imagine Learning is an individualized, language, math, and literacy software program designed to help all students master essential reading, math, and speaking skills.
Here are our top classes for the week of 4/10 - 4/14
Here are our top students in each grade level for the week of 4/10 - 4/14
3rd and 4th-grade students are working to have the highest accuracy and earn the bluest ribbons on Study Island. Study Island is a standards-based program that aligns with the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) where students are engaged in STAAR-aligned questions to prepare them for upcoming assessments and tests.
It is a competition-based game that encourages students to read passages, solve math problems, and answer questions correctly so they can earn blue ribbons, play games, and compete with other students from our school and around the country!
