Dear Families,

Happy New Year! I hope you guys had the opportunity to create new memories over the break. The highlight of my Holiday break was having my family reunited after 3 long years. It has been great going into classrooms and hearing some of our students’ Holiday highlights.

I want to express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to work with this amazing, creative, hardworking, driven, and understanding community. I want to thank you all who volunteered and continue to volunteer to make NCE’s new programs a reality. I want to reassure you that we as a campus are constantly working to improve and always have your child and the NCE’s community best interest at hand.

We are excited to have all of our NCE students back, refreshed, and ready to learn. We are looking forward to our continued work and support for our students, and are excited to see their academic-personal growth in this New Year 2023. We value your collaboration, perseverance, commitment, and dedication in ensuring your child is present and on time to school. January is going to be a very busy academic month. You are a major stakeholder in helping us and your child achieve all of NCE’s 2023 goals. It is my wish and hope that this New Year brings health and prosperity to our NCE community. It is my commitment to the NCE community to continue to serve with love, passion, and a growth mindset.

Sincerely,

A. Natalia Portillo Cuellar

Daily attendance is critical for student learning and socialization. Research shows that students who are chronically absent- missing 10% or more of school days due to absence for any reason (excused, unexcused, suspensions) - can lead to difficulty learning to read by the 3rd grade, achieving academically in middle school, and graduating from high school. We know that you care deeply about your child’s academic and social well-being and the best place for them to learn and grow is at school. Every day your child is absent, they fall behind in their classes and it requires work to catch up. They also miss out on all the opportunities to enjoy school with their peers and their teachers.

If you or your child are struggling with being at school, we can help, please call the front office.
