Families,

Over the break, I had an opportunity to fly to Michigan and spend a week and a half with my family. I have 6 nieces and nephews and they are a complete joy to be around (see below). The oldest is now 14 and the youngest is 6 years old. They always ask me what it is like to be a principal, what activities are happening on campus, and if any students “were sent to the principal’s office.” Every time I am with my nieces and nephews I think about the 500 adorable children I have the honor of working with at NCE. I am grateful that you entrust your child to me and to the campus and I never take this responsibility lightly. It is crucial to me to ensure your child is safe, feels known and cared for, and that he/she comes home every day learning more and more about, not just academics, by himself/herself as well.

I hope you and your family had a safe holiday season.

Ms. LaFlure

Dear Families,

Fever is one of the earliest signs of illness. YES Prep NCE and Kinsa are here to help you monitor the health of our students and their families. Our goal is to aid our community to make faster, smarter decisions to help keep our children well, especially with the rise of COVID (and its variants DELTA and OMICRON) cases.

If you are interested in receiving a thermometer for your family, please do the following:

Download the "Kinsa" app and create an account adding our school.

  • Email nceoperations@yesprep.org a picture of your created account and let us know you want a thermometer; please include the student's name, grade level, and teacher.

Friendly Reminder:

If your child is absent due to an illness, please notify the school by calling the front office at (713) 842-5650 or by sending an email to nceoperations@yesprep.org. If your child has a fever, please adhere to the following guidelines: Students may return to school if at least one day (24 hours) has passed since recovery (resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications). Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns!

Sincerely,

Nida Ahmad, RN – School Nurse
