Families,
If I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting you, my name is Jonathan Martinez, and I am one of the assistant principals here at YES Prep North Central Elementary. This is my first year with the North Central Community, and I'm amazed at the kindness I have felt coming from this community in such a short time. On Monday, I made the mistake of not taking an umbrella outside for my afternoon car duty, and as a result, I got soaked by the rain. I cannot tell you the number of families who rolled down their windows and asked if I needed an umbrella. This is just one of many examples of kindness acts I have experienced here at North Central Elementary, and I'm grateful to now be part of this community. This week, our SPARKS have been fully engaged in academic learning. Our pre-k students continue to make friends and learn through purposeful play as they begin to truly understand what it means to be in a school setting. Our students in kindergarten through 4th grade took their MAP test this week; 2nd grade will continue next week. The test results will provide teachers and school leaders with insight into our student's academic needs and what supports and interventions we need to implement to ensure their success this school year.
I look forward to working with you all this year as we strive for excellence in all areas of our campus community: academics, school culture, family relations, and after-school programming. I hope you and your SPARKS have a wonderful weekend. – Mr. Martinez
